Part 1 (30 min): Discussing and breaking down the ‘Big 7’ Learning Challenges present in our classrooms. In this part of the workshop, we will outline the most common barriers to learning and discuss some of the most commonly diagnosed learning difficulties. Part 2 (1 hour): Effective teaching practices based on The Rosenshine Principles How to share strategies with classroom teachers to make lessons accessible to all learners, including those with learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders. This session will focus on practices that will help any students overcome the most common learning barriers such as limited working memory, slow processing speed, inattentiveness, and cognitive load Break Part 3 (45 min- 1 hour): Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)- Gain an understanding of positive behavior management techniques that they can quickly and easily incorporate into their classroom with all learners. Teachers will leave the session with strategies they can use in their classroom the following week. Part 4 Review/ Set the tone for the afternoon (30 minutes): Lunch Break: Afternoon (Leipzig Internaitonal School) This Round table session is designed to be an open dialogue to discuss common challenges, successes, creating an effective Learning Support network through AGIS. Possible topics (depending on attendees): · What is inclusion and how are our schools approaching our ever-changing student population · Managing workload · Getting teacher buy-in
